hi Im tess im 17 years old and just a few hours ago I gave birth to a little guy that i didnt even know existed. at first I was really scared about even being pregnant but when i saw him i fell in love he seemed perfect. The doctors say that he seems healthy, but have been testing his blood and giving him work ups since he came, they say at he seems to be around 38 weeks gestation, but hes a little small 5lbs 2oz, they are scaring me because they say there could be underlying problems since i had no prenatal care and im only 123lbs. i didnt get a big round belly, i never felt him kick or got sick or anything, I dont drink often or smoke cigarettes but i have done marijuana occasionally and drink a little, and i also have taken over the counter meds like ibuprofen. the docs seem to be hesitant in telling me if he could possibly be at risk for anything, they are waiting for results, im sick of waiting could my baby have issues? I went from being so happy to so scared. not to mention the fact that my boyfriend doesnt seem as excited as i am, and i know nothing about babies, my parents are very supportive they have came and seen him and my dad and stepmom are trying to get stuff for him to come home his basic needs. ugh i thought the pain ripping through my back was going to be the worst of it, feels like it just began. has anyone ever been through this? all i can think about is Ian

Doctors don't like saying anything until they can prove it with test results.

Try not too worry too much focus on your new life with your baby and all the things you can do together when he is allowed home. Because he is a little small he might need to be kept in for a few weeks.

Once the doctors know anything then you'll know. You just have to trust they are doing everything possible in order to make sure your son is healthy with no problems that will affect him now or later in life.

Chin up and I wish you and your family all the best.

I wouldnt worry so much hun
awwwwwwwwww I am so glad that you went to the hospital! I knew that didnt sound normal. I have never been in the situation but two of my friends have and both babies were fine, so for now I would just get some rest and not worry about it, doctors try to tie up any loose ends and try to make sure that everything is going to be okay with the little guy. so I agree you shouldnt be so worried. I had my first daughter at 18 so I know the feeling of being scared but you'll do fine, im sure you will be able to enjoy him soon and I think Ian is a beautiful name!!!!!! congrats on your miracle

Ian should be fine, however, no prenatal care might be the reason why he was a bit smaller... but doctors always hesitate to say everything is normal, you know how they are. Covering their backs in case something really is wrong, and that's a good thing! Means their working to keep your baby healthy and strong. In all, I wouldn't worry. In time, little Ian will be home and happy. Smile

thanks everyone for the soothing words, hes amazing he has a little iv in his head and it kinda hurts my heart. but hes awesome ive never seen anything so tiny, im so in love, hes lost a little weight so im concerned about that, but he seems to be a tough little guy, and once he gains a little more weight he will be able to come home, and his daddy seems to be happier although his family is doubting Ian because his skin color is realy light, but none of that matters right now my family supports me, and I'm a mommy
