My husband has had diaharea for a week now, he doesn't feel sick, hasn't changed his eating or drinking habits, just has to go all the time, he told me yesterday he went 10 times. I think that is unusual, he wants to blame it on a "bug"!

One of the most common causes of diarrhea is a gastrointestinal virus. These are self limiting as long as the patient stays hydrated. It is very easy to become dehydrated when one has diarrhea.

Of course, there are other causes. Certain antibiotics can cause the problem. And, of course, the inflammatory bowel disorders and well as irritable bowel syndrome can be the etiology.

If it continues for much longer though, he should probably see his physician. Prolonged diarrhea can cause imbalances in the electrolytes, in addition to the dehydration.

Good luck.
