9 days so far and isn't slowing down

User Profile
I am 36 years old and have a tubal ligation 7 years ago. My period last normally for 7 days. The 2nd and 3rd days are the heaviest. My period this month has lasted for 9 days so far and isn't slowing down like it usually does. I am still going through about 1 tampon every hour and am still passing clots. What could be causing this? I don't have health insurance and can't afford to go to a clinic.

Welcome to ehealthforum,
Prolonged and heavy periods, with associated clots and abdominal cramps could suggest chances of miscarriage/incomplete abortion if you had been sexually active without protection. It is difficult to comment on the exact cause without examining you and going ahead with further evaluation. You should consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further evaluation to look for the underlying cause. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started to help you control the bleeding and regulate your periods. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
