4 days late and yeast infections

User Profile
Hi,

I have been on a 28 day cycle for my last few periods and my last one started january 25th so I should have gotten my next one monday which was february 22nd and it is now friday the 26th. I usually experience mild pain and swelling in my breasts right before my period and that hasn't happened either. I am not on birth control but we use condoms and my boyfriend pulls out before he ejaculates. We had sex on february 11th and I left the next day for vacation and came back monday and did not get my period. I have gotten mild yeast infections the past few months which I'm not sure if they have any effect on this. So being 4 days late and not showing my normal signs is terrifying me could I be pregnant?

Am I Pregnant Answer A10323
Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. Missed periods is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy. I would suggest you to get done a urine for pregnancy test and serum HCG test to confirm the status of your pregnancy.

If pregnancy is ruled out then causes of missed periods have to be explored. Common causes include stress and anxiety, depression, over exercising, sudden weight loss or gain (obesity), thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalance due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Some of these causes are modifiable like if you are having stress then yoga and meditation and anti anxiety medicines can help you out. Eat regular healthy, nutritious food and indulge in moderate exercises. If still the symptoms do not improve, then consultation from a doctor is required to rule out PCOS or thyroid disorder.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
