Menstruation Answer A19087
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Dark brown discharge could be suggestive of causes like PID (pelvic inflammatory disease), genital warts, gonorrhea, Chlamydia infection, menopause, vulvovaginitis, ovarian cysts, use of hormonal contraceptives, pregnancy, etc.
Only with a thorough examination and further investigations done by a gynecologist/your doctor, the exact cause can be made out. You will need to visit a your doctor/gynecologist for an examination, vaginal smear and culture test and a PAP smear along with ultrasound scan to see what could be the underlying cause.
