User Profile
I hav had depression for 2 years now, my doctor put me on Efexor XL 75mg at this time, then I felt things were getting worse so he increased my dosage to 2 x 75mg of same, at my request. I hav taken them responsability until 2 weeks ago I was none left and because I live in another country I could\'nt get my tabs ontime. Sofar I hav\'nt taken any, I am using every trick in the book to exercise eat and sleep. I\'m just worried, I want to stay off them now I dont have any at the are there any mishaps I should expect by cutting my anti-depres off without weaning off them. I feel ok as I swim in the Sea everyday and know this is helping me. I also take 2 tabs for High Blood Pressure and 1 Tab for cholesterol.....I\'m feeling freaked out as my sister died from an aneurysm 8 years ago suddently. Many Thanks

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out.

Antidepressants should not be stopped suddenly and the dose has to be tapered off. It can trigger antidepressant discontinuation syndrome. Typical symptoms of antidepressant discontinuation syndrome include flu-like symptoms, insomnia, nausea, imbalance, sensory disturbances, and hyperarousal. These symptoms usually are mild, last one to two weeks, and are rapidly extinguished with reinstitution of antidepressant medication.

I suggest you to consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible and restart the antidepressants.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations, and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
