My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 7 months now and I have been having cramps for past few months. Along with the cramps all month long I have been getting brown spotting starting 10 days before my period starts. My periods are irregular. Last month I also passed some clots which I have never had with my periods. What is going on? I had a pap test in october and it was good! Please help!

Welcome to ehealthforum.
Brown spotting that you had could be due to hormonal issues or infection, or cervix related problems. The passing of occasional clots with menstrual bleeding is also considered to be normal. If the brown spotting persists or continues in your next cycle, consider visiting your gynecologist for a thorough check to see what could be wrong.
If the cramps and the brown spotting are getting increased in intensity and persisting in your further menstrual cycles, then thorough investigation need to be done to look for causes like PID (pelvic inflammatory disease), genital warts, gonorrhea, Chlamydia infection, menopause, vulvovaginitis, ovarian cysts, etc. These causes also affect fertility levels, hence early detection and treatment will also help you in getting pregnant sooner.
Take care.
