Family member has gurgle sounds which could be rhonchi or crackles, im not sure, in bilateral lower bases. She is obese and has GERD, she does not have fever, no shortness of breath. She has chronic cough without phlem that is worse at night.

What is her possible diagnosis?

I know acid reflux commonly causes cough but how about the sounds only heard in the lower bases? upper breath sounds are fine. Chest x-ray she had 6 months ago were negative she said.

Thank you for asking
I read your question and I understand your concern. You know the answer it is GERD and obesity is causing GERD. Lose weight and take ant acids. Also the long term upper respiratory tract involvement causes these chest complaints and are just a collateral damage. Treat the underlying cause and you won't have a problem.
I hope it helps. Consult your doctor as our advice is just for education purposes only.
Take care.
