Could the Mirana IUD caused my ovarian cyst??

User Profile
So I went to the doctor because I couldnt feel the strings of my IUD and was concerned it went further in.. Well my doc was also unable to find looking the strings either so I was schedualed to have an ultrasound.. I went for that yesterday and during the normal ultrasound the IUD couldnt be seen so I had to have a endovaginal ultrasound done and there my IUD was found and also and ovarian cyst on my right ovary..
I have never had any cysts before and am wondering if the IUD was the cause of it?? Has anyone else had or developed ovarian cysts with the IUD? What happened with them if so? Did they go away on there own or did you need surgery?
Any info would be great!

Dear lilm

I wouldn't recommend you IUD at all. Not only because The hormonal IUD may cause noncancerous (benign) growths called ovarian cysts, the hormonal IUD can cause hormonal side effects similar to those caused by oral contraceptives, such as breast tenderness, mood swings, headaches, and acne. Beyond that - for me the most important - even if using pills or IUD - you can have, so called 'breakthrough ovulation' - if this happen and a baby is conceived - the pill or IUD still irritate the lining of the uterus so the tiny baby boy or girl will die before he or she can actually attach to the lining of the is easy to check that just google 'breakthrough ovulation'....

Personally I recommend Natural Family Planning methods, which are reliable and effective and great for relationship growth. NFP are an all natural and non-invasive, health-friendly ways of avoiding - or causing - pregnancy through effective methods of fertility awareness. I use fertility monitor, which is very effective and safe (99%).....easy can be found on NFP websites...

Good luck - cheers
