Could I have possibly made her pregnant?

I did use a condom, but i had sex without a condom for the first 30 seconds and then i put the condom on afterwards. The problem is that I masturbated 12 hours before i had sex, but i took a shower after i masturbated. Could it have been possible that my precum had sperm in it while i penetrated her without protection for 30 seconds? or if i had precum on my penis during that time? Also the woman i had sex with was 49 years old. Does her older age significantly lower the chances of her being pregnant in that situation?

Welcome to e health forum.

Seems like you want to know, the chances of a woman becoming pregnant, after a unprotected sexual encounter.

Chances of pregnancy in healthy woman, after a single episode of unprotected sexual intercourse is only about 20-25 %, provided the woman has a healthy and regular menstrual cycles, the intercourse occurred during the fertile period of her menstrual cycle (day 12 - 16 of the menstrual cycle of 28 days).

Having sex in the days out of this fertile period (that is day 1 to 11 & 17 - 2Cool would be less likely to result in pregnancy, and it is considered to be the Safe period.

In addition, Pregnancy can occur, only when ejaculation occurs within the vagina. Normally during sex, when ejaculation occurs inside the vagina, about 3 ml of semen (with upto 60 million sperms per ml) is deposited inside the vagina, and most of it is ejected into the uterus, through the cervix. But only thousands of capacitated sperms enter the fallopian tube and only 300-500 reach the ovum, and only one of those sperms can fertilize the ovum.

Hence when a drop or two of semen comes into contact on the clitoris or outside the vaginal introitus - the chance of pregnancy is very rare. This is due to the fact that sperms have to travel a long distance from the external genitalia to the fallopian tubes where conception occurs.

In your case, the chances of your girlfriend getting pregnant due to the act described above would be very less.

But you need to keep in mind to follow safe sex and always use condoms or emergency contraception in order to to avoid pregnancy.

Remember, knowledge is power and knowledge of what can cause pregnancy and the steps you can take to prevent it will make you more calm and more able to explore your sexuality with confidence.

I hope this helps.
