Constipation and, changes in stool consistency.

I haven't been able to have a normal bowel movement in the last month. Extremely constipated this is not normal for me. I've never had a problem going, before I usually would go every 3 days and, had large well formed BMs. Now, I can't go poop for 5 days or, longer. The consistency size and, shape of my stools have changed since the last couple months. Nothing has changed in my diet although, lately my appetite has decreased. I'm a 56 year old woman, relatively healthy no serious conditions. I don't take any medication. I'm going bunny poops and, sometimes their hard. Sorry, to be so graphic.....I know it's gross. This is so embarrassing. I'm only going a little bit at a time just very small stools and, little pieces. I also have small hard lumpy stools sometimes hard to pass. Occasionally, I do have soft stools that have a foul smell. I seldom have a leaky stool. I do have to go more but, I can't produce a normal larger stool. Sometimes, I feel like I have to go again, right after I just went. Only to go very little if anything or, not at all. Which is very uncomfortable. I feel that my bowel is not evacuating properly. I have bloating and, an occasional stomach ache. I'm really worried, can anyone help? Please, any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
Hypothyroidism should be ruled out first.
If you have constitutional symptoms like anemia, weight loss and unexplained fever then go for CT colonography.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
