For a few months now when I go for bowel movement I always feel the urge to have one even if I just had one. Any ideas on this?I am a 74 year old female.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Tenesmus and urge to defecate should be evaluated for proctitis, IBS and other inflammatory bowel conditions. Needs a gastroenterologist to have a look at.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
