My guy friends girlfriend is 18 weeks and 6 days pregnant. She just told him about the pregnancy last week and when he asked when her last period was she said December. Now yesterday, she's saying that November 19th was the first day of her last period. When you count back 18 weeks and 6 days, it's falls on November 14th. Well my friend is confused because he lives out of state and came back home briefly the Tuesday before thanksgiving, November 25th. He had unprotected sex with her the following day on Wednesday, November 26 and Saturday, November 29th before he left town again the next day. If the baby is his, wouldn't she be 17 weeks? He was only home these 5 days. Is there a possibility that she had already conceived with someone else before he came home? At this point, she's lied so much and I just don't want to see him hurt. Please help!!! Thank you.

Is the confusion due to the fact that by convention we count weeks of pregnancy starting at the first day of the last period whereas in fact the ovulation that started the pregnancy occurred two weeks later? Lmp Nov 16th ties in with ovulation Nov 30 and his reported sex was perfectly timed to catch that egg. Curious to know if the dating of her pregnancy is based on an ultrasound or a reported lmp, and if ultrasound then how far along was she when the ultrasound was done. I'm thinking her lying was a mixture of denial and confusion as much as anything.

She received two ultrasounds and they both put her 18 weeks. She said her lmp was November 19th, the week before he came home so I guess with the ovulation starting two weeks later, than the chances are it's his....

Hi ppowb I sent you a message but maybe you did not receive. Please help me.
My first day of LMP was 15 September 2014 but I am my estimated due date is 29 July 2015 (according to the Week 6 & Week 12 US). I have regular periods but I missed the one in October 2014. Which method should I believe and use to find out conception date?

Ultrasound estimates are accurate to within a few days if done in the first trimester. Your baby results from sex the very beginning of November. It's curious that you missed your October period. Chalk it up to coincidence unless you deliver a full-term baby before Independence Day.

Curious, two weeks before the next period is when most women ovulate - implantation spotting would occur a week later. Which said, ovulation can come four days early, so just maybe...? It's too early to take a test. Wait until your period was supposed to show. GL!

Hi Ppowb thank you for the reply! I noticed you mentioned early Nov 2014 on your reply. Could you pinpoint the range of possible conception dates please?

Chocolate, in theory your due date ties in with ovulation November 5th. Sex on Nov 1st had a small chance which increases each day to Nov 5th and declines to nothing shortly thereafter.

Hello Ppowb again. Based on the above, are the dates 22 October 2014 & 9 November possible conception dates? What do you think of these dates?

Chocolate, since your cycles were upset at that time the only guide we have to ovulation date is the due date. On that basis October 22nd is out. November 9th is only four days off and that is close enough to the margin of error of ultrasounds that there is some possibility. If you had exposure in the first week of November that would still be the most likely.

Hi ppowb looks like I have not given birth yet (it is past independence day). Do you think 22 Oct is out then? Also between 1 Nov and 9 Nov 2014 which do you think is most likely conception date?
