Hello and welcome to e health forum. ‎

The cause of a cold can either be a viral or due to bacterial origin.

You will need a consultation with your doctor to check if you need a prescription of antibiotics, for complete clearing of ‎the infection. ‎

In the mean time supportive medications like Advil, Robitussin-DM, and cough lozenges which will ‎relieve your symptoms. ‎

In addition, taking adequate rest as well as OTC immune supplements containing vitamin C, Vitamin E, zinc, carotenoids and ‎omega fatty acids will be of help too.‎
