Clotting and brown blood

User Profile
Last year I started having stringy and small-medium sized blood clots and brown blood in the form of my menstrual cycle. I was a virgin, nearly a month or so later I lost my virginity. It was protected sex and he really hardly did anything at all. He didn't ejaculate, however it was sex. I don't really think it's related but that's mostly due to the fact that it happened before the incident. The next month I had a very light bleeding. It wasn't remotely anything to brag about. I didn't receive a period until around February or March. Between now and November of 2016 I've been having even more clotting and brown blood issues, though once in a blue moon I have a normal period(possibly 2-3 times since November of 2016, I'm not for certain). So my question is, am I overacting? Do I need to go to the doctor? Do you possibly know what's wrong with me?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
You are right in one sense.Yes.The sex has nothing to do with the change of cycle. It is your internal hormonal balance which had changed the rhythm.Have you gained weight suddenly? Are you stressed or following a tough diet schedule? Those can be the reason. However, you need to have a checkup to your doctor definitely. You need hormonal testing as well as USG of abdomen to look for cystic ovaries which can be a cause.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
