Medications to treat infection are prescribed during cases of epididymytis. Epididymitis usually resolves with appropriate antibiotic therapy, without any damage to prior sexual or reproductive abilities. Recurrence is fairly common. Sexually-transmitted infections require special antibiotics, and your sexual partners should also be treated --- do you know if this has happened?

Bed rest, with elevation of the scrotum and ice packs applied to the area, is recommended to help treat the symptoms of epididymytis. It is very important to have a follow-up visit with your health care provider to evaluate whether the infection has completely resolved, or not. When was the last time you went to visit your doctor?

It definitely comes from a bacterial infection. They have to find the right antibiotic for you and you partner needs to be treated or you will become re-infected.

Hi, I have been to various urologists and they have prescribed me different types of antibiotics and anti-imflammatory and nothing has work. They did various ultrasounds and found traces of epididymitis of the right side with very little cysts. I have tried pretty much everything from conventional medicine to natural medicine. I have change my diet for more than a year now. Can anyone help me find a solution for this the pain is there all the time at times the intensity is stronger and very painful. Please help me I want to be cured and feel normal. I hope that someone can help me not only me but all other men who are suffering from this illness. Thanks.

chronic epididymitis
Hi,
I have just joined this forum and am hoping to contact others with the same problem. I have regular moderate to severe pain in my right epididimus for the last couple of years. Its hard to get any relieve and it severly inhibits my life. Sometimes I cant climb a flight of stairs. When I aggravate it it takes months to settle down. I have had it examined and ultrasounded, everything is normal other than a cyst which the specialists tell me is nothing. I am considering having the whole organ cut out but I am scared to take the plunge. Any advise would be appreciated.

chronic epididymitis
Wow! I have been looking for two weeks all over the internet, and have found noone that seems to be in the pain I am in. I am 26 years old and was told last week I have epiditymitus. It is absolutely killing me! I want to feel normal again and quit explaining why I look like I am in pain all of the time. I have tried everything from support and ice under the testicles, (slow) sex incase i was backed-up, rest, antibiotics, and painkillers. Of all of these remedies, painkillers are the only thing that work, but they don't work that well. I have been taking lortabs for 4 days now and they help, but i sure as heck don't want to take them forever. Besides they aren't killing all of the pain anyway. They just put me in La-La land for a couple of hours and help to get my mind off of the pain. I am sorry I have no answers and I hope you get to feeling better.

If there are cysts or even just one - this is the culprit responsible for the release of the infection to the organ.

My systems actually started with a thumping in my chest and a cough as a result. It wasn't until I felt the mass that we realized what it was. Antibiotics only temporarily fixed the issue. My urologist said that I would either have to stay on drugs for the rest of my life (on and off) - or cut out the cyst. This organ is essential in the reproduction side of things and can not be undone. So those wishing to have children have no choice but to go the drug route. I on the other hand will have the surgery (43 yrs old). A little more in depth though then a vasectomy per say. You are fully out - 5-6 stitches and in a LOT of pain for a full week. T3 or similar meds are required.

I'll update after my hospital visit - likely in 6-8 weeks. Bookmarking this site Smile

Hey guys I think I have recurrent epididymitis as well, this is the second time I have it and is taking to damn long to go away, I started a policy of cero sexual activity (either sex or masturbation) this seems to be working well, by the third week I have almost no pain at all, and without taking analgesics anymore, unfortunately alter taking a cold shower the bad pain trigger back and now I'm Keeling that it was a huge step backward, I'm taking ibuprofen right now the pain has got better alter a week but is still there, I guess I should stay without sex for a couple of weeks, to see mayor improvements again. I let you know if this works, I want to have sex again, I don't want a sex-less life but the prospect of this abstinence making the pain go away completely and forever is to tempting.

I also heard of a treatment that includes a direct injection of steroids or local anesthetics along a nerve, I haven't tried that, but it seems as a last resource before surgery.

Anyway I'll keep you informed of how things evolve. Good luck

glad i found you guys!
hey all. i have been suffering from chronic epididymitis for over a year now. going to the doctor was pointless. they prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs that provided minor relief, if any at all. i refuse to go the pain-killer route, for fear of dependency. the worst part is i can't even use marijuana to ease the pain because it makes it flair even more. if anyone knows of a way to help ease the pain without the surgery i would do anything to know about it. this condition has made my life a living hell.

Chronic epididymitis
Hi, I have been taking nerve injections and pain medication at a pain clinic for over two months now. I know what you guys are going through. I really think you guys should give it a try and see how you feel. Give it a few tries and take the medicine if the doctor prescribes you some. Here's the link to pain clinic that I go to http://www.doctor-robb.com/ If you cannot go to this clinic you should try a pain clinic in your area. This is my suggestion because it has help a lot of people with this problem. If anyone else finds another thing please let us know as men we need to try to help each other with this problem. We all want to have a healthy and a peaceful life. thanks.

The nerve blocks can help if you don't have any more infection and the only thing you have is just pain. If you already tried most of the antibiotics that your doctor gave you and he has assured you that there's no infection anymore but just pain and inflammation you should try nerve blocks. Nerve blocks work different on each individual but should give it a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain some guys have gotten completely healed by this method. I wish you all the luck in the world. What are the things/medicines/herbs or anything that you have tried already. Which thing has work better on you? If there's anyone else outhere that has more input or will like to help us please do so. Many men are looking to get some help and get cured from this. We will forever be grateful to anyone that is able to help us or give us more suggestions.

Nerve Blockers
Where does one go to get nerve blockers? I called the only pain management clinic in town and the person who answered the phone didn't know what epididymitis is. I told her testicle pain, then she said no.

Nerve blocks are offered at pain management clinics but the doctors or pain specialists have to know how to do this. A pain doctor with a background in anasthasialogy is the best. Even if you have to go to another town you try it or maybe inform yourself to see if they offered it at hospitals. Most anasthasialogists know how to do this. If anyone else can add anything please do so as well as any other additional information. thanks.

Chronic Epididmitis
I've had epididymitis for over a year now. Try either Saw Palmetto or Prostate Health Complex. Saw Palmetto has mostly been used for the prostate but it is good overall for the male genital area. It helps me, I pretty much don't notice it, although I always feel discomfort in my right leg (my right tesicles was affected), and certain things like coffee or soda irritate it. Also, cranberry extract pills help. Try a protein powder, and drink it with your saw palmetto or w/e, protein helps rebuild damaged tissue and muscles. Hope this helps.

Thanks jlk204 you mentioned to take protein in powder form which brand is the best? I too have been suffering from this for a long time. I tried so many things and pray to God with all my strength to find something and for him take this discomfort away. So how many of the items that you mentioned in your email do you take per day. can you describe and tells us your schedule on how you take these medicines/supplements. Also, if anyone else out there has any additional input or something else that has worked on you please let us know. We should all help each other find a treatment that works for this disease. thanks.

I've got multiple cysts on both sides, but only the right is a persistent problem.

I had to stop wearing boxers... definitely need more support. Even just to walk up stairs.

When I have a flare up, ejaculation definitely makes the problem a lot worse. Warm/hot baths seem to help, along with plenty of enteric-coated aspirin (so you don't aggravate your digestive tract as well).

And if you sleep on your side, put a pillow between your knees/legs.

Wear a jock if there's any chance you'll get sacked. This applies to simple things like having an infant on your lap! One small hit, and it can be weeks to months before it's recovered.

When I'm sure I'm done having kids, I'll have those tubes taken out.

had it with this
i have had my pain for a yr now in my left testical, and it has put a fear into me about running, riding my bike and even sex, i saw my doctor today and he finally explained what it was, so i am here now writing this, i have tryed all the drug to make the pain go away but they did not help,

so what i really cant understand is why wont they jst cut my left testical off due to the right one working fine? and i have no sign of infection what so ever, and as for having kids i am really not worried, i jst dont want to put up with this pain anymore or be on drugs for the rest of my life.

i am going for a second opinion tomorrow tho, as i really cant bear this any more! i am only 24 and this is tearing my life apart, as it also makes my mood swing so bad i have ruined the best relationship i have ever had with the most sweetest girl Sad,

greg
