Chest Tightness or slight pain, and occasional burning

For about 2 weeks, I have been having an on again-off again set of symptoms in my chest. It has been a lot of tightness, or slight pain, and occasionally a burning sensation mainly on my left chest but has also been isolated on the right side as well at times.

It is more of a discomfort than a pain. The most common symptom is tightness around below my left chest. I usually wake up feeling fine, but at some point in every day it ends up happening.

It doesn't happen with physical stress, in fact I played tennis the other day and felt fine the whole time. It almost more happens when I am sitting/laying around.

I read up on indigestion and acid reflux but I don't really feel the burning all that much and it's never felt like acid in my throat. The symptoms also have happened both before and after eating so I'm not sure food is the issue.

When it feels tight, I find that putting icy-hot on it makes it feel better.

Also, it doesn't hurt if I touch it at all. It seems to be deeper than something I could touch on the outside to make it hurt.

Any help on this would be appreciated. It's not so much that its painful, but its happening every day and becoming a big distraction to my daily life as when its happening, I almost can't stop thinking about it.

You don't give your age, sex, occupation, habits, family history, personal past history, weight, etc.
You describe a vague discomfort occurring in both the left and right chest, occurring at rest but not with exercise, not related to chest tenderness, present about 2 weeks, and eased by a counter-irritant (icy-hot).
I don't know what your have. It doesn't sound like esophageal reflux and it is not from the heart or pulmonary tree. It could be musculoskeletal in origin, and might originate in the upper spine.
I would suggest that you let a couple more weeks go by and see how you feel. If the discomfort persists, I would suggest that you see your physician.
