Welcome to e health forum.

Some important differentiating points about most common causes of pain in the chest have been described as follows.

Musculoskeletal inflammatory pain can be diagnosed if the pain ‎‎increases on ‎‎specific movements or ‎‎on direct pressure on the affected area. Such pain can respond to ‎‎medications ‎‎like Ibuprofen 400 mg ‎‎taken three times a day. This generally resolves within a week. ‎

Pneumonia:- Here the pain increases on deep breaths and is associated with symptoms ‎‎‎‎‎like cough, expectoration of mucus or purulent sputum, etc. This can be diagnosed with physical ‎examination, Differential Leucocyte count, sputum testing as well as Chest X ray. ‎Treatment with a ‎course of antibiotics might help to clear the infection. ‎

GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disorder): This is a common condition that can cause people to worry that they have heart conditions. But ‎‎‎this condition worsens with food intake and usually subsides ‎after taking Antacids or proton pump ‎inhibitors, like Omeprazole, or H2 ‎‎blockers like Ranitidine.

Asthma usually would present along with persistant spasmodic cough and breathlessness. Any issues like pneumonia would be associated with fever, cough, etc.

In your case, the cause of the pain cannot be diagnosed only with the given history.

A physical examination is the most essential aspect which can make a specific diagnosis. hence it would be recommended that you consult with your doctor and seek a proper medical opinion.

I hope this helps.
