Welcome to ehealthforum,
It is difficult to comment on the cause without examining you. Consider getting an examination done by your doctor. The causes for sudden appearance of symptoms could be injury, contusion, muscle fatigue, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, heavy exercises, use of certain medications etc. You can try to prevent further occurrences by staying hydrated, doing regular stretches, gradually training muscles during exercise, use of ice treatment.
Take care.
