I had my lower cartilage pierced a week ago and at first it was very painful but has subsided to mild tenderness. My main concern is swelling, the feeling of heaviness and at times burning sensation. Should I be concerned and if so, what should I do??

Body jewelry and cartilage piercing
This may be a late reply but certain tenderness and swelling is normal and should be expected. However, it should go after a few weeks, which doesn't mean that the piercing is fully healed yet.

Cartilage piercing tends to be tender and burning & itching is relatively common.

It's important to wear body-safe jewelry made of quality materials such as titanium or surgical steel.
