can u get pregnant around the time your mirena (IUD) expires?

Ive had my mirena since 2007 i got the 5 yr one havent had any periods since then until a couple months ago. I was thinking that maybe the bleeding was due to the fact that it was about to expire but lately ive been sleeping more, eating more and im have anger issues. My stomach has been sticking out more and more each day, i was thinking that the cause for that was that when i had my twins i had a c-section and u really never lose that stomach fat and the fact that i was eating more. could u get pregnant around the time ur IUD expires??

Welcome to ehealthforum
Failure rates have been reported by woman during Mirena use so rare chances of pregnancy are present.Other than a possibility of perforation is also to be ruled out as chances are present.
Consider visiting a Gynaecologist for position of IUD and if it has expired kindly get it removed.

Take Care!
