Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If she had been during her fertile days or close to ovulation time, she can consider taking emergency contraception within 24-48 hours of the unprotected sexual contact to help preventing pregnancy. Wait and watch for her periods. Look out for development of any new symptoms if pregnancy is suspected. She should visit her doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation and assistance if she does not get her periods within 10 days of expected period dates, or if she gets abnormal bleeding. If pregnancy gets ruled out, further evaluation would be done to look for underlying cause for her symptoms and delayed periods. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and evaluation results) would be started to help her control the symptoms and regulate her periods. If pregnancy gets ruled out and if she is not ready for pregnancy, but intends to remain sexually active, you should consider getting her started on suitable regular birth control measures to be protected (after her periods). She should be regular with birth control use as instructed. Avoid having unprotected sexual contact if you are not ready for pregnancy. She should be in regular monitoring and follow-up with her treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately.
Take care.
