I was given nuvaring yesterday and told i could put the first one in when i started my period, but my periods are so irregular i can go 3 months without one. I want to start it now so I will be ready when my husband comes home from afghanistan in 11 days. I really cant wait to start a period. Will it be ok if I just put it in now. It has been 4 weeks and 2 days since my last period. If not what is another good birth control besides the pill or condoms that will be effective within a week? Thanks!

neerg88, With such irregular periods it is ok to just start with the ring. Any hormonal birth control becomes effective at the latest 7 days after stating it.

Thank your husband for his service!

Take care

I seemed to have slight bleeding today and put nuvaring in for the first time... Should I expect my period to continue ? Or will it be stopped this month? I am worried now and dot know of I should take it out.
