Hello everyone,

I am a 30 year old male, and an active marijuana smoker.

About a week ago, I noticed there was a bump on my tongue at the time it didn't hurt, I just noticed it was there.. so I did some googling, and realized this could be a tastebud of some sort, so I did the stupid thing and tried to pick it off like a dummy, I shouldn't of did that, because it swelled three times the size, and hurts off and on, and it isn't going back to normal.

What worries me is that what I messed with was a pre-cancerous bump of some sort, and I just sorta activated it by messing with it. It's about the size of a pea, maybe a little smaller, I do have a doctor appt March 4th.

What makes me worry even more is that since Easter of last year I have had this stabbing pain in my throat off and on, at one point it was so bad it would continue for weeks, and make it where all I could do is sleep to stop the pain.

After going to the doctor, having an endoscopy done, MRI, and all kinds of tests (thyroid, etc), and they found nothing wrong at all, and started prescribing me happy pills, and saying it was acid reflux. So I gave up and decided to just deal with it, gradually over time my issues started to go away, but I would still have this pain in my throat maybe 3-6 days out of the month, I can tell when it's gonna start acting up, and about 3 days later it disappears. During this time I do take acid controllers just in case, but I don't know if they work, or if it's just placebo.

I hope that this wasn't some sort of pre-cancerous warning that is now developing into full oral cancer, or my anxiety is just getting the best of me.

For your convenience, I did upload a picture: imgur.com/KsRvJFp

Please let me know what you think..do you think this could be cancerous, or what could it be?

Thank you.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
If it was precancerous or malignant then some remnants would have left behind. It seems acid reflux that has caused it.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
