Dropped something on top center of foot 4 days ago. Had some immediate issue with bending toes in either direction, but no stationary pain and could walk just fine. Painless toe bending after about a day. As of today, no problems walking/running/jumping, but minor pain while trying to put shoe on, due to pressure on top of foot. Don't know how long, but today I noticed the whole area around point of impact, and extending partway into the top of each toe, a descent level of bruising. I'm assuming it's just natural healing process, just wanting to make sure it's not a sign of anything more serious.

Based on your history, its unlikely to be a fracture though such injuries should be dealt with immediately. The foot should be examined to determine range of motion and inflammation. If there is any suspicion then x ray foot AP/ lateral view can be obtained and treated accordingly.
