Hello,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.

Your concern is about how to breastfeed your adopted baby. Breastfeeding is triggered by the hormone prolactin which is produced by the pituitary gland. Treatment with a combination of estrogen and progesterone (as in the birth control pill, but without a break) and domperidone can be initiated 6-7 months before adoption which can help in milk let down. Also, an electric pump with double set up can be used for pumping more milk.

You should consult a gynecologist and discuss these two options with her. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are advised to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
