Brain Fog, Memory Loss and Sensitive Vision

About 6 months ago i drank alot one weekend. The next day at work i got this brain fog feeling. I have had it ever since that weekend along with memory loss and my eyes are sensitive to light, and i am curious how to make it go away. Ive done a numerous amount of tests and they havent found anything. Ive been taking Ginko and Fish Oil pills and i havent noticed a difference. How does this sort of thing work? Do i have to wait for my body to go back to normal or is there a shortcut i can take? Im 19 so i could really use the help.

All help is appreciated, Thank You

Greg00,

This is just a speculation, based upon the information you have noted. You don't say if you drank enough to cause a blackout or how long it lasted, if you did. By now (6 months) any effects of the alcohol have worn off. But, if you did have a blackout you may have caused damage to some neural tissue from alcohol poisoning/toxicity. You say you have had a lot of tests done and all are negative - which is good. But, since it still bothers you, you may need to see a neurologist, if you haven't already. The neurologist can do a thorough history and physical, and order any tests that may be necessary (an EEG or MRI). You can continue to try the alternative medicine therapies, but I would probably seek an answer from a specialist.

Good luck.

I didnt blackout or anything. The day after i drank i felt like i was going to pass out and i got the brain fog. I went 3 months straight without having any alcohol but after new years i started drinking here and there. I have seen a neuroligist and he said i was fine. I dont know exactly what to do because i have paid many visits to my doctor and he recently said that i am no longer going to get any further investigation in my situation.

Hi Greg00, Gaelic
I've got the same issue - i got drunk at my friends son wedding and almost lost myself there. Day after and so far (over 2yrs):
-Brain fog/balance issue and kind of going to faint...
-Tired
-Kind of weakness in all extremities and joint pain
-Tingling/itching/burning sensations all over the body
-Vision issues like dim or cloudy
-Confusion
-Twitching/Buzz
Had CT/MRI/neurologist/ear/eye evaluation - all good
I think that may be anxiety but I am not sure...
Seems as my symptoms had the same drink history as yours.
Have you figured it out?
Thanks

Greg00,

It's great that all the tests for bad things are negative. You really don't want to have a significant brain disorder, they usually don't do too well. The symptoms you describe can also be caused by anxiety and stress. Have you tried some therapies to relieve stress; talking to someone, biofeedback, massage, good music, hot tubs, aroma therapy, etc. I am not saying this is all in your head or that you are "crazy". Stress can cause significant physical problems resulting in lost productivity, troubles with family, and deteriorating health.

Hope you find an answer to your problem. And seriously, you might look into the stress angle, you have to have some, just because no one can figure out what is going on. Good luck.
