Its better to take emergency contraception as coitus and penetration may lead to some inside and a person may not be aware of that.

ECP will help if less than 72 hours passed. After that wait and see and consult a gynecologist if periods delay. Elective abortion will be considered.
Lets hope it does not come to that.
