Bone island of the shoulder

I just found out today that in my right shoulder I have a bone island plus tendinitis of my rotator cuff! I'm 31 I keep seeing the benign bone island in the hand pelvis and everywhere else except the shoulder why is that? And yes this does hurt a lot! I found out about it through an X-ray from my dr. Waiting on pre authorization from my insurance company for an MRI scan and also I'm going to an orthopedic about it I'm falling apart at age 31!!! I hate this!,,

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Get the MRI done, and let this lesion of bone island be further elaborated, if needed your doctor can proceed accordingly. If painful and symptomatic and all other differentials ruled out, they will consider surgicl removal of this island specially if its compressing some nerve root.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
