blood on my backside also blood in the toilet?

Hi, i went to the toilet this morning a realised there was blood on my backside whislt i was wiping it, then i also realised that there was also blood in the toilet. By the way this has never happened to me before. Is it serious?

From the history provided here, presence of blood in the stools and on the toilet paper could indicate a wide range of problems ranging from anal fissures, hemorrhoids, pelvic infections, ano-rectal abscesses, etc.

You might consider getting yourself examined by your physician, as well as getting a stool examination done This will give a definitive diagnosis.

In the mean time taking OTC laxatives may help to relieve any constipation if present.
