Bleeding after period ends

User Profile
I dont believe I am pregnant but I not quite sure what to think. My period came on time and did its normal course....but now its like 4 days or so after my period and im still experiencing bleeding. Could this be a more serious problem or do I need to take a pregnancy test? I did some reading and it also sounds like I may have had a miscarridge from some of the things I have experienced.

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!

Once in a while it is ok to have a slightly prolonged period. However if this persists from cycle to cycle, it can be a cause of concern. One possibility is that it is a miscarriage, if you have a history of unprotected sex.

Other causes of heavy bleeding which should be ruled out are fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis, uterine polyps, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problems and bleeding disorders.

It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Consult a gynecologist regarding this.
Hope this helps. Take care!
