I started at 115. started the shot 6 months ago and have now gained 60 pounds. What is there I can use that does not cause migraines?

Thanks for me joining on ehealthforum.

During menstrual cycles, the hormones play a great role. The migraine attacks are usually due to the decrease in estrogen concentration which can occur due to 3 scenarios:
1) Natural declines in the endogenous estrogen during the menstrual cycle.
2) Scheduled withdrawals from the exogenous hormonal products, like oral contraceptive pill or with interruptions in the estrogen therapy.
3) Unintentional estrogen withdrawal that could occur due to missed doses of hormonal pills or as a result of drug interactions that result in reduced availability.
Hence starting women on high estrogen containing supplements might help, but it results in weight gain.
Another possible alternative would be to start the women on the natural progesterone supplements to balance the effects of estrogen.
The hormonal therapy does result in weight gain, and the choice of the alternative is usually decided by our treating doctor based on your cent medical status. So discuss with your treating doctor about the weight gain that you are having while being on the shot, to find any alternative that could be best in your case.
Try to follow a diet rich in fibre content and low in carbohydrates, to see if you can halt your weight gain. Take help of a professional nutritionist.

All the best. Take care.
