birth control after pregnancy

Hi, I was wondering what is the best birthcontrol after having a baby ? Because I do plan on breast feeding and i really wanted to take the pill but doctors said they wouldnt recommend it because it''s not good for the baby while breast feeding, and I dont want to do the shot because they said it might make you a little fat, and i dont want to use mirena beacuse i honestly dont trust those kinds of birthcontrol. But i was willing to take the pill because i had used it in the past and didnt have a problem with it. So if you could help me out so i could see what options i have to choose from. Thanks

You can use the progesterone only pill (POP/mini pill) safely while breastfeeding. I personally got the mirena after giving birth as I didn''t want to worry about remembering pills but did use the POP for a few weeks before I got it inserted (I breastfed exclusively too)
