Bipolar Ladies: Where is my sex drive?

Have you, a bipolar person, or your bipolar partner, experienced a long-term episode of decreased sex drive?

I seem to have a strange situation. I have read about older Bipolar patients having a lack of sex drive, but I am having the same problem and I am 22. I've been medicated for 7 years with a fairly permanent cocktail of medications, but suddenly over the past six months my sex drive has completely evaporated. Vanished.

I cannot go on or off any medications so my question is for people with similar problems: Have you tried herbal supplements and do they work? I've read excellent reviews on Irwin Natural Steel-Libidos for women, and there was one review by a bipolar woman, but I wanted to see if anyone here had tried them (or Maca, Goat's Weed, Arginine, Dark Chocolate, etc.). I am at my wit's end and so is my girlfriend, so I am posting as an act of desperation.

So, have you lost your sex drive? How long did it last? Did you use medication? Did you use supplements?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and would like to help

Bipolar disorder can affect sexuality and sexual activity. It can increase aswell as decrease it.

Hyposexuality can also be side effect of your medications (SSRIs for example)
Episode can last from weeks to months ,even years!

Talking honestly and openly with your partner aswell as mental health care provider can help you cope with it.

Maca ,ginseng, redclover are known to increase female libido.
You can try lady prelox , a combination of natural herbs, to increase your sex drive.

Before starting anything consult your physician.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
