Hello and welcome to e health forum.

Bilirubin is an excretion product, and levels found in the body reflects the balance between production and excretion.

The normal range of Total serum bilirubin lies in the range of 5.1-17.0 umol/L OR 0.1-1.2 mg/ Dl. In your case, the increase in the bilirubin is very mild and this is not significant to cause concern.

But in the determination of liver conditions, just elevated bilirubin levels are not significant.

The first sign of liver disease, that is Jaundice (Yellowish discoloration of the sclera of the eyes) due to accumulation of bilirubin, occurs with bilirubin range of 2-3 mg/dL (34 to 51 mol/L). Skin discoloration occurs at much higher levels.

Some general some symptoms of liver disease include nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, indigestion, change in stools, jaundice, itching, etc. In severe conditions with greater liver dysfunction abdominal distension, swelling of the legs, anorexia, lethargy could be evident.

In case you have the above signs and symptoms, then additional tests including Serum albumin, liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP, LDH) as well as a liver ultrasound - will be needed to evaluate the level of liver damage.

In case, if you do not have any other signs and symptoms other than the slightly elevated bilirubin levels, and your doctor has given you a clean bill of health, there is no need to worry and you can safely study and attend your final exams, as scheduled.

I hope this helps.

My total bilirubin is 1.28 mg/dl , direct bilirubin is 0.58 mg/dl and direct bilirubin is 0.7 mg/dl.
Pl advise as these are above the normal range.
I had 90,000 platelets sometime back and it has come up to 1,80000.

Jaundice is the most common of all liver disorders resulting from an obstruction in the bile duct, or the loss of function of the bile-producing liver cells. Drink as much lemon juice as you can to treat jaundice naturally. Mix lemon juice with sugarcane juice and drink it daily to cure jaundice.
