Am I Pregnant Answer A32177
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The time after a week of your periods, is fertile, and if you had been sexually active closer to ovulation time, chances of pregnancy are possible (for a regular menstrual cycle of 28-30 days, the usual fertile days would lie between days 8-18 taking day 1 as first day of bleeding). The blood in discharge, back pain, and headache that you experienced could indicate possibility of ovulation. Urine pregnancy test kits usually start showing positive results after about 20 days post-conception (roughly corresponding to about 1 week after your missed/altered periods). The test should always be done on early morning first urine sample to get accurate results (pregnancy hormone HCG is believed to be in highest concentration in this sample, and you should avoid lot of fluid intake and caffeinated beverages in the night before taking the test). The lighter periods, brown discharge, headaches, absence of usual pre-menstrual or menstrual symptoms, could suggest pregnancy possibility. Variation of 5-10 days in menstrual cycle is considered to be normal. Look out for development of any other new symptoms if pregnancy is suspected. If periods do not start within 10 days of expected period dates, or if you get abnormal periods, or if you suspect chances of pregnancy, consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately).
Take care.
