bad cramps and dark discharge

User Profile
Hi there! I'm on b/c and my cycle has always been normal. I'm due for my period on sept 3rd and started getting bad cramps and dark discharge on aug 23rd..2 weeks before my period. Just wondering if what I'm experiencing is a normal part of the cycle or if this seems off?

Hi, and thanks for your query on eHealth forum!

If the discharge was less and came mid cycle then it could be a withdrawal bleed. If by chance you have missed pills, then it could be an ovulation bleed (do to ineffective action of pills).

Other than this, a woman can get spotting on BC. Pregnancy is another possibility. However, to confirm this, you will need to wait until 3rd September. If your periods start then you are unlikely to be pregnant. If you miss periods, take a pregnancy test and see. Hope this helps. Take care!
