I hurt my back at work yesterday lifting heavy boxes. Last night and today, I've been experiencing terrible leg cramps - are they related?

most definitely. you may have put pressure on spinal nerves. there are several kinds of nerves in the spine. nerves that control muscles are one of them. pressure may be on those nerves. if you get pain down leg or pain when sitting it would be good to see your workmen comp dr. if he thinks its spine have him refer you to spinal surgeon specialist. to protect yourself make sure you report accident at work immediately......pete

Yes, sounds like a muscle spasam related due to nerve pressure. Best thing to do is take it easy as first. Use Heat to relax the muscle and then ice to help with the pain. yea, be sure to report the incident..Workmen comp should take care of it for you. Chiropractors are always a good choice to start off with. If that doesnt help after a period of time then you have bigger issues that a spine specialist can help you with. In the mean time, if you can take Nsaids, by all means take em...Hope you feel better...I have this issues with my lower and upper back so I feel your pain.
