I have been on ortho-trycyclen for the past 5 years. 2 months ago I switched over to aviane (well to alesse but the pharmacy gave me the generic aviane) which I am told by my doctor is a lower dose and a completely different hormone than ortho-trycyclen.

This cycle I have decided to try and take my pil l back to back for the first time (take no inactive pills). I was planning on doing this for 2 or 3 cycles. I bled for the normal week I would even though I had continued to take active pills (this was to be expected) and now 2 days after my normal cycle, I am still spotting. On another post I read that this could last for up to a month.

I was just wondering if anyone else out there has attempted to take avianne or alesse continuously with no inactive pills, and what you experienced and were there any side effects. Also anyone just taking this pill as directed, have you noticed any different side effects as I am now considering switching again.

Thanks

Birth control pills in general all have the same side effects.

Spotting is very common along with irregular bleeding. Skipping your period takes practice for most women. How long had you been on Aviane before you tried to skip?

Its common.

If it doesn't go away or gets too annoying, go to the doctor to change pills.

I am starting Aviane soon & i was just trying to search up some of the different side effects. I am currently on seasonique and am having alot of problems, and it seems to be quite expensive for someone without health insurance. Aviane seems to be less expensive and unfortuetly I can not stop taking the pill bc my body does not produce the hormones that it needs, so please do not tell me to stop taking it if I'm having so many problems. thank you.
