User Profile
Age: 34
sex: Male
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 135pounds (normal; unchanged in 2+ years)
Smoke: 15 years
Drink: rarely
Medical History: no problems; rare simple heartburn feeling.

-minor cough during day BUT wake up with severe cough after sleeping 1-6 hours (random)
-after 2 weeks, I went to a doctor.
-Dr diagnosed: bronchitis; possible acid reflux burning airways.
-Dr prescribed: prevacid, augmentin, mucinex, and albuterol inhaler (as needed, 4-6hours.
-Dr took xray's: lung hyperexpansion and "minor/insignificant effusions not even worth mentioning."
-Pulmonologist scheduled testing in 30 days.

Here are my questions:
1) After a week on prevacid and antibiotics, is bronchitis the POSSIBLE reason for my coughing at night STILL?

2) At night, my lungs feel like they "stick" to themself when I breathe and I cough up a clear gel in small amounts. What does this indicate or NOT?

Thank you for asking!
respiratory tract infections are secondary to GERD until and unless that gets modified these recurrences of chest infections will occur. Keep using bronchodilators and modify diet and lifestyle for GERD. coughing at night with mucus in phegm is indication of an infection for which you have been prescribed with an antibiotic. But nipping the evil GERD from the bud is advised is the symptomatic management.visit our acid reflux centre for further guidance. reflux
Take care
