Dear all,

I have psoriatic arthritis and take Cimzia for about two years now.I took before that MTX also. While on treatment with Cimzia, I suffered from side effects like several UTIs, skin rashes, ear infection, many many colds. At some point I had a nasty UTI that lasted 2 months. I am worried that my immune system is weak.

My boyfriend traveled to Brazil for 2 weeks. Before traveling, he did all the vaccines that were recommended. When he comes back, I would like to be there at the airport to kiss him.

My question is: Can he still be a carrier of viruses and pass it onto me, since I have a weak immune system? I don't have many vaccines made only the ones when I was a child. I am worried that even though he was vaccinated before traveling, when we kiss and so he could pass a virus to me.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
Certain viruses like EBV,Hepatitis B,influenza and active herpes simplex can be transmitted through kissing even in immunocompetent. As you are on biologics,it would be better to avoid kissing.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
