Hello,
Recently my appetite has dimished greatly. I used to drink a lot of coffee, 4-5 cups a day, and I think it did something to my digestive system because ever since I quite cold turkey I don't have much of an appetite. This is a problem because my metabolism is very fast, I'm 17, and if I don't reach about 2000 calories a day I lose a lot of weight. What is the reason as to why I can eat one meal and be fine, normally having to force/remind myself to eat. I cannot eat large meals anymore, I have to divide them up into 4 or more meals a day and more than 600 calories in a sitting is hard. When I eat I also feel a lump in my throat and I burp a lot due to me feeling bloated. Is this because of acid reflux or psychological aspects, if so should I take Zantac? Also, once I took a small dosage of xanax (.5 mg) and I was able to eat a lot of food without feeling full, thinking maybe it's anxiety causing this. Thank you.

Acid Reflux Answer A60964
Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Burping and bloating is acid reflux and causing your appetite to suppress. Motility enhancing meds, antacids like zantac, small frequent meals, more fiber and fruits, avoiding coffee, tea, smoking, chocolates, spicy, fatty foods will help. Delay lying down after meals, keep head side of the bed elevated for 8 inches at least.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
