any of the diseases that I could have caught deadly?

User Profile
I'm really worried because I accidentally drank a complete stranger's drink. My drink was the same as his (with a straw) and I took a swing thinking it was mine. I drank it immediately after he put it down (he didn't notice) for some reason; I was distracted and my brain just wasn't connecting. Could I have caught some disease? I'm sure there was saliva on the straw. This is really worrying me. Are any of the diseases that I could have caught deadly? What can I do?

Welcome to e health forum.

When a person accidentally consumes microbe-contaminated items, such as saliva - infections that can be transmitted include - common cold viruses, Hepatitis-B, Infectious mononucleosis (EBV), CMC and infections due to streptococcus (can cause oral and throat infections).

The likelyhood that you will have a infection would be very less likely.

But if you are concerned then it would be recommended that you consult your doctor and seek proper tests.

I hope this helps.
