User Profile
for the last few months i have been experiencing episodes of anxiety then quickly followed by intense anger and then by a very low and intense depresison. i have thought about taking my life during these times its been that bad. i find that with alcohol my anger completely fills my body and i find myself completely out of control and easily \\\'wound up\\\' and antagonised. i have been moving house in the last few weeks and after a bout of intense migraines (which i have suffered from for over 15 years) my gp told me that they were becoming more intense and frequent because of stress. i fear i may have bipolar but i cant be sure, please can someone help me?

Bipolar Disorder Answer A15481
Hi, welcome to the ehealth forum and I am glad to help you.
You seem concerned by mood fluctuations and the possibility of bipolar disorder.
Bipolar disorder is characterised by unpredictable swings in mood from mania to depression. Mood fluctuations are chronic and should be present for at least 2 years before the diagnosis is made. During a manic episode, increased psychomotor activity, decreased need for sleep, impulsivity and impaired judgment are the main features. Signs and symptoms of the depressive phase of bipolar disorder include persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, guilt, anger, isolation, or hopelessness; disturbances in sleep and appetite; fatigue and loss of interest in usually enjoyable activities; problems concentrating; loneliness, self-loathing, apathy or indifference; depersonalization.
Bipolar disorder usually starts in age group 20-30 years but many have premorbid symptoms in late childhood or early adolescence. You must consult your psychiatrist for definitive diagnosis as the same might be possible in your case but the definitive diagnosis is not possible online.
Hope this helps. Take care.
Note: This post is not to emphasise final diagnosis as the same cannot be made online and is aimed just to provide medical information and no treatment suggested above be taken without face to face consultation with health care professional.
