Anxiety and Stress Question

User Profile
My doctor recently had to stop my Zoloft medicine because I developed serotonin syndrome and had respiratory difficulty as well as hot flashes, muscle twitches, extreme leg muscle tightness, and flushing of the skin around my forehead and cheeks.

I am worried that I will not fair well without Zoloft long-term, but how long would I need to wait to restart Zoloft since the Zoloft 75 mg was just discontinued today after being on the medicine for 17.5 months?

I tend to develop persistent insomnia issues without SSRI medicine, but yet, I am not wanting to take Zoloft right now if it will just cause more serotonin syndrome.

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
You have to wait for atleast 8 weeks. You can take melatonin and buspirone in the meantime.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
