Anorexia Nervosa and Hallucinations

I've been suffering from Anorexia Nervosa for about 2 years and I'm pretty much recovered, but in the last 6 months I've had something strange happen to me pretty much every single day. I used to binge eat, so now whenever I pass by any food I think that I ate it. It could be in someone's hand, in the pantry, on the counter... it's everywhere. It's basically a voice in my head telling me I ate foods that I actually didn't... according to my parents and friends who say it's irrational and untrue. I was thinking it's the binge eating voice in my head telling me to eat more so I gain weight since I haven't binged in months... but I don't know. I was wondering if any of you have ever heard of this before... like have ever had a voice in your head telling you that you ate things... even when you are sure you didn't. I spend hours a day obsessing over thinking that I ate things and it doesn't seem to go away... it gets worse with stress. Has anyone heard of this? Will it go away? What should I do?

Hello and welcome to EHF !

I went through your query and i understand your concern. These delusional thoughts which are far from reality with history of anorexia and binge eating need a little Psychotherapy and a psychiatrist consult . I would like you to consult your psychiatrist and let them have complete psychiatric evaluation .You would need a few doses of SSRI'S which will help with these thoughts . Cognitive behavioural therapy would also help .Let your psychiatrist decide what is best for you .

Take care
