What's wrong with me? I've had to take a melatonin pill almost every night for about a week.

Even then, I wake up at about 6:30.

Am I an insomniac? Should I see a doctor?

Not necessarily. Waking up at 6:30 by itself isn't a problem, especially if you're going to bed at 10:30 and getting 8 hours.

Additionally, short term sleep problems like you're describing are common, and typically resolve on their own as we adjust or adapt to whatever's causing the disruption.

If this persists over a month, see a doctor. In the meantime, beware of using melatonin or any artificial sleep aid, which can possibly lead to dependency issues. There are much better completely natural ways to help yourself relax and get a better night's sleep.

I do love my hypnosis CD's as an on/off insomniac. They do really help me and are cheap and cheerful to download as apps these days. I am slightly in love with Paul Mckennas stuff I think he's great. But then maybe he has programmed me to love him. Haha. But I guess it is just about calming the mind in order to sleep.
