I was suffering from acute back pain since past 5 months, I took a lot of medication but did not find much releief. Then a friend suggested me to visit chiropractor. It helped me a lot in recovering from the pain. But I wanted to ask if chiropractic has any long term effect on health?

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out.

Chiropractors use a specific type of manipulation called an adjustment to improve many health problems that are related to our skeleton and muscular system. They are safe for most people when done correctly. But side effects include discomfort or mild pain at the point of manipulation, or stiffness and tiredness for a day or so. Spinal manipulation, particularly when used on the upper spine (neck) has been associated with severe complications, such as damage to an artery and stroke.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
