Abnormal tonsils - oral herpes ?

User Profile
I've had abnormal tonsils for almost a year now. The tonsil growths started within a month of a previous relationship last October. I was concerned so i went to the doctor and she said it looked like oral herpes, I asked if it could possibly be throat cancer and she said no, so I took the antibiotics and the test results came back negative so I left it alone but now I can't help but wonder since my tonsils never went back to normal if it could actually be throat cancer caused by hpv? Now I am worried that I waited too late to treat it

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Enlarged tonsils are common and may stay enlarged, if these bother and are recurrent you may consider surgery of tonsillectomy. and its not throat cancer at all so stop worrying.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
