abdominal hysterectomy if I do not wait at least 6 wks

I just had a total abdominal hysterectomy on June 21, 2011. I noticed today I am becoming increasingly swollen on the right side above my incision. It is tender, numb, and twice as big as it was yesterday. That is why I'm a little nervous. Also Is it true that If I do not wait at least 6 wks to have intercourse that there is a possibility of my intestines coming out my vagina!? I'm 46

Welcome to ehealthforum,
It takes 6-8 weeks for complete healing. You should have considered waiting. The swelling could be due to tissue fluid accumulation, suture rupture, possibility of herniation etc. It should be examined thoroughly to confirm the exact cause. Do not delay your visit to your treating gynecologist/obstetrician for examination and further management. Do not have intercourse, unless you are cleared by your treating gynecologist/obstetrician.
Take care.
